To add a printer to the network

Do you have a laser or inkjet printer and want to integrate it into your home WLAN network? We will show you a simple way to do this without problems if no special driver is available for your device from the manufacturer. First, of course, you need a WLAN-enabled printer. Here is the good news that almost all new printers have a cordless Internet interface. Simply follow the steps to add your printer to the home network.

Step 1: Install the
driver

Install the printer driver for your device on the computer and select any port port. This does not even have to work because it is only needed for the installation.

Step 2: Open the
properties

After the installation, call up the "Print Properties" from the context menu and go to the "Ports" tab. Click "Add" and select "Standard TCP / IP Port."

Alternative method: Connect a printer to a compatible Fritz! Box

Step 3: Assign a name

An assistant will start to assist you with the connection. For the print name or IP address, enter the IP address configured in the printer. You can see this directly at the printer in the "Network settings". Leave the field "Portname" empty. The wizard then attempts to detect and bind the printer. If the wizard does not find a connection name, use the "Generic Network Card" setting
