Users of Windows 10 are to receive the Anniversary update one year after the release of the current Microsoft operating system. From the development fair Build 2017 comes new information to the big update, which so far was known under the name Redstone. On the one hand, changes could be made to the start menu, and more interactive elements could be given to live tiles and features such as the notification center. On the other hand, the Windows 10 browser Edge finally receives support for extensions (add-ons).

At the start of Build 2017 on March 30, Microsoft presented a new design for the Start menu to the participants of the Windows Insider program. Compared to the previous start menu, all installed apps are listed alphabetically. In addition, there are additional buttons on the left for the computer to be shut down and rebooted. In addition, users can place their own shortcuts in order to access programs, folders or files faster (see figure above). Users can currently vote on whether the design should be installed in Windows 10 or not. If users choose to change, it is assumed that they will be included in the Anniversary Update.
As certain, the Windows 10 Browser Edge will support extensions at the latest. This allows users to customize the feature scope of the browser. Popular extensions are, for example, advertising blocks or integration of certain programs, such as VPN tools or media players. For a few weeks, Insiders have already been able to experiment with Edge's first extensions.

Other changes affect the live tiles and the notification center. The link to the last one will move to the right on the taskliste - at the moment the link is to the left of the date display. Also, depending on the notification, icons of the logging app and, after opening the notification center, images (such as Facebook, Twitter, etc.) are displayed. Depending on the app there should also be a possibility to react directly to messages. For example, users can reply directly to the notification center, for example, when a Messenger app reports to Word. Live tiles are also to become more interactive. After a click, not just the app opens, but depending on the displayed Kachinhalt the corresponding menu within the app. For example, if a weather forecast for the weather app shows the weather for the next days, you'll get more information about the weather after clicking on the tile, and you do not have to search for the appropriate info.
The Anniversary Update for Windows 10 is expected to be released by the end of July. Insiders are expected to get a pre-build in April to test the changes.
