Bioshock: The Collection in Test - Grandiose Trilogy in High Definition

Without question, the Bioshock series is one of the most extraordinary shooters of our time. Great stories, great visual effects and a well-thought-out gameplay ensured at the time for maximum ratings. With Bioshock: The Collection are now all three titles in a box for PS4 and Xbox One available – including the DLC. Only in part 2 do the makers for the multiplayer mode. PC users who already own the Bioshock parts 1 and 2 will receive the updates free of charge. Bioshock Infinite remains unaffected on the PC – it still looks pretty.

Bioshock: The Collection in the Test - Graphic

Indisputably, Bioshock, the first part, is the most beneficial of the graphical innovations. Sharper textures, new light effects or fresh details like algae create a great atmosphere. Above all, however, the water is what looks much better than just nine years ago (!) When Bioshock saw the light of the world. Of course, digital make-up can not completely mask the tooth of time, but the adjustments make Bioshock more beautiful than ever. Bioshock 2 also benefits from the fresh look, but not as much as the first Bioshock.

Bioshock: The Collection in Test - Scope

The games themselves have changed almost nothing. Part 1 and 3 still convince of the story. Bioshock 2 flattens a bit - but was already criticized at the time. Only on the first part are comments by producer Ken Levine, who now and then details about the genesis of the game. These audiologists must be collected in the game world. Therefore, they are not displayed when a special point appears, but are to be found. Too bad: Unfortunately there are not too many of them.

Bioshock: The Collection in Review: Conclusion

Unfortunately, it has been missed at 2k to rework the Autosave function, which continues to leave immense gaps in the levels. An adaptation would have been urgently needed, because this is no longer contemporary. Also the somewhat fiddly control was maintained. Buttons themselves? Is not in it.

If you have not played a single part of the Bioshock series, the Bioshock Collection should definitely (!) Grow. Such a dense story, such a grandiose settings and such a great atmosphere is not often found in games. For those who have already played Bioshock, the collection is nice, but it offers too little.
