Not everyone can accept the image loss at high ISO values, and the performance of image stabilizers is limited. Some use long exposure times for creative image design. The reasons to use tripods today are also diverse. Many photographers also swear by the deceleration, which the setting up and aligning bring with it. The image can be precisely defined – in architecture, panorama and product photography, and action photographers can follow their motives well. But not every tripod set is suitable for every application, there is no egg-laying wool milk but good compromises. Travel photographers want a small, lightweight tripod. Architecture photographers tend to be a stable, with a head that can be aligned exactly and can not move when releasing heavy lenses.
Cullmann Concept One 625 OH2.5V
ColorFoto has looked at some current aluminum tripods - from travel mini to universal tripod. One thing shines here, the other can do better. In addition to the total number of points, it should be clarified before the purchase which features are important.
Cullmann's aluminum triple is an all-rounder. For just under 240 euros buyers get a padded bag with a solid processed tripod with hybrid ball head. The ball joint can be locked in the vertical axis and becomes a two-way tilt for video.
With a weight of 2 kg and head it is not one of the flyweights, but the Concept One 625 has other qualities: due to its own weight, it is more stable, furthermore it reaches a maximum work height of 161 cm, without a center column still 135 cm. Thanks to the reversible spars, it can be packed to a pack size of 45 cm including the head. The thick spars are covered with neoprene and have three extracts. Spikes are missing. Practical: The three automatically engaging spreading angles are provided with large sliding elements so that they can still be operated easily even with expedition gloves.
The ball head OH2.5V is small but very well processed. It runs smoothly in the panorama as well as in the ball axis. Photofilmers are likely to enjoy the ball-joint that can be locked in the vertical axis. Together with the boom, the ball head becomes a really good video tilt. Important: Before use, the guide arm must be fixed with an Allen key stowed in the center column. The key also serves to remove the tripod head, because it is screwed directly onto the center column without a tripod support and is protected against accidental unscrewing. The camera sits on a quick-change plate which is protected against falling. It locks automatically but needs to be fixed.
In the laboratory, the Concept One 625 OH2.5V is a good figure. The fixing deflection is 5 mm to 5 m - very good. The load deflection is not bad with 3 cm and is actually the only usable in the test field. The set is also good. Conclusion: Cullmanns Concept One 625 convinces with clever details and very good handling. In addition, it scores with the best test results in the test field - and is the only one that is also the best choice for heavier equipment - test winners.
