We are testing the network hard drive N2A2 2TB from LG. The NAS system can inspire with a clear user interface and provides an excellent online help in American language. Features include the RAID-1 mode, where data is completely mirrored on a second hard disk, the “Selective Mirroring”. This function allows the user to select which directories of a hard drive to mirror.
In the case of a total failure of one of the two correspondingly installed hard disks, the sensitive data are thus not lost. Negative: The hard disk change can only be done with a screwdriver. Positive: The device from LG comes in the NAS comparison test with guide from February 2011 among the three test candidates to the fastest transfer rates - both in writing and reading.
You set up the remote access of the NAS system using a setup wizard. Since this has to activate a certain function on your router, the access password of the router is required. If the remote access is established, you can access the contents not only from any computer on the Internet, but also from the smartphone over the Internet. Then the mobile phone plays music or shows stored images from the NAS. Unfortunately, encryption for remote access to the network memory does not exist.
