With great expectations, Microsoft launched the Xbox One Release in Japan. Since September 4th, the Nextgen console is also available there and should be celebrated with a special countdown event as well as a full-day release party. However, several photos from the launch show that the Japanese probably do not have too much interest in the console.
Also interesting is
Nearly all sales points were nothing but yawning emptiness. Sometimes more media and Microsoft representatives than customers were present at the release. Of course, potential buyers still had time to purchase an Xbox One all day, but the lack of queues before the stores indicated that the Microsoft console might evolve into the storekeeper.
Microsoft tried to win the Japanese clientele with the Xbox One and a big set of strong games, but the attempt failed miserably.
Given the fact that both Nintendo and Sony in Japan enjoy home advantages and dominate the market, Microsoft could have expected a difficult start of the Xbox One. The Japanese are considered as video games, but could already start with the Xbox 360 little. This sold just 20,000 times last year, while the Playstation 3 delivered 824,000 consoles to customers over the same period.
Only solace for Microsoft: The special edition Day One Edition was sold out in Japan to large parts. A spokesman for the group continues to be optimistic and said that the Xbox has exclusive games and is more than just a console. The graphics should satisfy any real gamers.
Whether the enthusiasm of the Japanese for the Xbox One is still growing, remains to be seen. Exciting are the other releases of the console, since Microsoft will start selling in 27 other countries in September, including in Russia and China.
